First Nine Weeks
Unit 1.1
Establishing Math Routines and Expectations Students will learn and understand processes and procedures for daily problem solving and develop number sense.
Unit 1.2 Sorting and Classifying
Students will give descriptions, and make identifications and comparisons of objects.
Unit 1.3 Counting, Comparing, & Representing Quantities
Students will build multiple representations of quantities to 10 and describe and compare quantities. Students will orally count to 25, following the correct verbal sequence.
Unit 1.4 Spatial Relationships
Students will give descriptions of where one object is located in relation to another.
Unit 1.5 Exploring Length
Students will make comparisons of two, then three, concrete objects according to length and place objects in order based on length.
Unit 1.6 Collecting and Organizing Data
Students will demonstrate organization of data by constructing real, then pictorial graphs, and use the relationships identified in the graph to answer questions.
Second Nine Weeks
Unit 2.1 Counting, Comparing, & Representing Quantities
Students will build multiple representations of quantities to 10 and describe and compare quantities. Students will orally count to 50, following the correct verbal sequence.
Unit 2.2 Developing Algebraic Thinking through Patterns
Students will identify, extend, create, and describe patterns of sounds, physical movement, and concrete objects and use patterns to make predictions.
Unit 2.3 Exploring Weight and Mass
Students will make comparisons of two objects according to weight/mass.
Unit 2.4 Two- and Three-Dimensional Figures
Students will give descriptions and make identifications and comparisons of three-, then two dimensional figures.
Third Nine Weeks
Unit 3.1 Counting, Comparing, & Representing Quantities
Students will build multiple representations of quantities to 20 and describe and compare quantities. Students will orally count to 75, following the correct verbal sequence.
Unit 3.2 Ordinal Numbers
Students will give descriptions, make comparisons, order objects and discover relationships based on relative position.
Unit 3.3 Time,Temperature & Events
Students will give descriptions and make comparisons of situations and/or objects according to relative temperature, duration, and position in a sequence.
Unit 3.4 Sorting & Classifying: Overlapping Sets
Students will give descriptions, and make identifications and comparisons of objects.
Fourth Nine Weeks
Unit 4.1 Counting, Comparing, & Representing Quantities
Students will build multiple representations of quantities to 20 and describe and compare quantities. Students will orally count to 100, following the correct verbal sequence.
Unit 4.2 Exploring Capacity
Students will make comparisons of two containers according to capacity.
Unit 4.3 Exploring Area
Students will give descriptions and make comparisons of the areas of two flat surfaces of two-dimensional figures.
Unit 4.4 Fractions
Students will make comparisons of objects by separating a whole into two equal parts, using appropriate vocabulary to explain why a given part is half of the whole.
Unit 4.5 Modeling Addition and Subtraction
Students will model, create, and describe multiple representations that show equivalence for addition and subtraction situations with a variety of concrete objects.
