100th Day of School

Dear Parents,

We are going to celebrate the 100th day of school on January 31st.  We are planning various activities and are very excited.

Each kindergarten student needs to bring $2.00 for a t-shirt.  The teachers are going to inro on a special decal for the 100th day!  Please send the $$ by Friday, January 20, 2012.

Also, if you are interested in helping with the iron on, please let me know.  I really appreciate it !!

Weekly Updates 1/18/2012

HAPPENINGS
This has been a busy month!  In Reading we are reading a book titled "Then and Now".  The children are learning how technology has changed over the years.  In Math we are moving on from 2D and 3D shapes to counting with larger numbers up to 20. 

In Science we are beginning to plant and just started with lima beans.  But we will be moving on to corn, cow peas, marigolds, bluebonnets and wildflowers next week.  In Social Studies we are discussing "Wants and Needs".  The students are learning the basic differences between the them.

FIELD TRIP INFORMATION
February 17th a fieldtrip is planned for the Interactive Theater to see "The Frog and The Princess".  Due to space in the theater we can ONLY take two chaperones per class.  They both may ride the bus.  But any parent may meet us at Memorial park for lunch.  I will take the first two parents who contact me. 

NOTES AND REMINDERS:
Dress your child for outside play.  Make sure everything is labeled with your child's name.
Please return SIGNED report card as soon as possible.
Please return fieldtrip $$ ($10.00) and permission slip by Friday, January 27th.

THINGS TO PRACTICE
*  Can you tie your shoes?
*  Practice counting to 100
*  Learn your phone number & address
*  Practice sight words (on blog)

HOMEWORK
January calendar:  Remember to do 3 or more activities each week.   Due:  Tuesday, January 31st
Snowman is due Wednesday, January 18th.

Weekly Updates 1/9/12

Happy Monday!  I wanted to provide you with some reminders and happenings in the classroom.


In the red Wednesday folder please male sire to take out the January homework sheet (if you haven't yet) and do 3 activities a week.  The homework is due on Tuesday, January 31st.  Also in the folder this week is a book order for scholastic.  Books make great gifts and just fun times with your child.  Consider ordering some.  I gave directions on how to order online or you can still order by sending it in tome with a check made out to Scholastic book clubs.  Lastly there is a field trip permission slip for the Interactive Theater for Friday, February 17th.  The cost of the field trip is $10.00.  The money and permission slip are due back by Friday, January 27th.

In class we are back in full swing.  In reading we are discussing how animals change (such as a caterpillar and butterfly).  In Math we are discussing 2 and 3-d shapes and symmetry.  In Science we are discussing winter and winter animals and lastly in Social Studies is all about Martin Luther King.

Reminder:  Wednesday, January 11th is early dismissal at 12:30

Monday, January 16th is no school in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Welcome 2012!

I am so excited to be back and with the kids!  2012 is going to be an exciting year and I am excited for all the upcoming events.  Please make sure to check out the red Wednesday folder for the newest newsletter. 

We have a field trip planned for Friday Feb 17 to the Interactive Theater to see "The Frog and The Princess".  Then we will be going to Memorial Park for lunch.  Should be a lot of fun and if you are interested in attending please let me know.  I will have more details next week.  Estimated cost should be around $10.00 for the field trip and the bus.

Media Release Forms


I will be sending home in the Wednesday folder (August 23), media release forms so I can put your child's picture on my blog. Please try to return them as soon as possible.
